Telling their stories: Black Playwrights at Arena Stage

This weekend was, well, somewhat awe-inspiring.  As part of the American Voices New Play Institute, Arena hosted (with Georgetown University) a convening for Black Playwrights that was specifically focused on the stories that are being told: in their plays, in their lives, and in the field.  

 

 We've started to chronicle some of the main themes, ideas, suggestions and highlites from the weekend over at the Institute blog - and there's still a lot more to come.  You can check it all out HERE.

The final part of the convening was a public performance of new works by 6 of these playwrights (Lydia Diamond, Paul Anthony Notice, Rha Goddess, Daniel Beaty, Katori Hall and Marcus Gardley).  If you were at the event, or watched it on the livestream, we'd love to hear about your experience.  The comment box is open!
