This summer, Arena Stage was transported to River City, Iowa through our production of The Music Man in the Fichandler Theatre. The production brought together a diverse company of 30 actors, from national and local favorites to newcomers. 11-year-old Ian Berlin, a fifth grader at the Maret School in Washington, D.C. made his professional theater debut as Marian Paroo's timid and lisping younger brother Winthrop. Through his video blog, Ian documented different aspects of the rehearsal process and his experience onstage in a series called Becoming Winthrop: A Young Actor's Journey to "River Thity."
