With a voice like whiskey and a laugh like pure joy, Janis Joplin took the music scene by
storm. Her wild-child spirit, captivating stage presence and stunning artistry made her a force to be reckoned with. She constantly paid homage to her childhood musical influences in her performances and continues to influence musicians today. In short, she was a woman who rocked.
Arena Stage, in partnership with the National Museum of Women in the Arts, presents a behind-the-scenes look at One Night with Janis Joplin on Monday, October 22 from 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Get a FREE backstage pass into how Joplin’s life, spirit and musical influences are brought to life onstage from One Night with Janis Joplin cast members Mary Bridget Davies (Janis Joplin) and Sabrina Elayne Carten (The Blues Singer) and band members Stephen Flakus, Gavriel De Tarr and Patrick Harry. This event will held at the National Museum of Women in the Arts and moderated by Meredith Rutledge-Borger, curator of the “Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power” exhibit on view at the museum through January 6, 2013.
We hope to see you rocking along with us on Monday!

This was such a fun event and I am so glad that I went! I am not familiar with Janis' music, so it was great to get a sample of the show before I go to see it! Additionally, the focus upon women artists, their particular struggles, but also the idea of those who came before and those who influence and inspire us was really perfect for the venue and the event! Thanks to the organizers and the cast for doing this event!
