At Arena Stage, we have the power to make a difference in people’s lives — but none of it is possible without you.

That’s why we are asking for your support on Giving Tuesday. Any donation made up to $20,000 will go twice as far in making a difference in people’s lives thanks to a special match opportunity from Arena Stage Trustee B. Thomas Mansbach.

As you know, Arena has a storied history, and has been dedicated to representation since its inception. And today, we continue to be the voice of the American experience. Our theater consistently adds to the canon of American plays and delivers on our commitment to tell diverse stories that represent the variety and nuance of what it means to be American.

As Director of Community Engagement and Senior Artistic Advisor, I have seen firsthand the impact that Arena’s work has on youth in our community. In the 19 years since I began my journey at Arena, supporters like you have made possible profound experiences for young artists who are discovering who they are—both in our audiences and on our stages.

That’s why we are asking for your support this Giving Tuesday to help continue our mission. Your gift helps power:

  • The DC Ticket Partnership, which brings DC public and public charter school students in to see productions, contextualizes these performances with study guides and pre- and post-show visits, and provides curriculum tie-in for teachers — all of that in addition to subsidized tickets at just $4 each!
  • Voices of Now, a program that builds ensembles who create autobiographical theater pieces addressing social justice issues. While some ensembles are partially funded by school districts, the majority are fully funded by donations and contributions from generous members like you.
  • Camp Arena Stage, a multi-arts day camp that allows children ages 8 to 15 to learn, create, and find the artist within them — no matter their socio-economic background, thanks to our generous scholarship program funded by donors like you.

Your donation will continue to provide the necessary funding for all our programs, like the ones mentioned above and so many more

Theater provides an opportunity for joy — in those who attend, in those who create, and in the young people who are given the opportunity to do both. I hope you will find it in your heart to give the gift of joy.
