Effective May 5, Arena Stage will operate under a “mask recommended”—but not required—policy for patrons, staff, and artists, in all our spaces, including our theaters.

We made this decision in consultation with our medical consultants at GW Medical Faculty Associates, and on the recommendation of our Safety Committee. Given that the national COVID-19 emergency will be lifted on May 11, and that infection and hospitalization rates are much lower than at the height of the pandemic, we felt this was an appropriate time to review and update our safety protocols.

This means that beginning with our 2022/23 production of Exclusion, for most performances, patrons will no longer be required to wear a mask in our theaters. Understanding that some patrons may prefer to be in a “masked required” setting, we will still require masks be worn in the theater for select Exclusion performances:

During the 2023/24 Season, we will offer a limited number of mask-required performances for each production. We will announce those dates as soon as possible, so please stay tuned.

If you have any questions, please contact our Box Office at 202-488-3300 or info@arenastage.org

We remain committed to the safety of all who work at or visit our beautiful venue. We truly appreciate you and look forward to seeing you soon.

Thank you for being the best part of Arena Stage!
