As you prepare for an unforgettable experience at Arena Stage, located in the vibrant Southwest (SW) district of Washington, D.C., parking is likely something you’re already thinking about. This comprehensive guide will help you navigate the various parking options available in our area; whether you prefer convenience, affordability, or a combination of both, we’ve got you covered!
1. On-Site Parking
Arena Stage offers on-site parking — right under our building! — for your convenience. That’s right, you can drive right into (well, under) The Mead Center for American Theater from the northbound lane of Maine Avenue. This is your best bet if you want to park just steps away from the theater entrance.
Please note: we have a limited number of parking spots available, so we recommend you reserve your spot in advance. Also, traffic conditions in the area are unpredictable, so we recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before show time.
Parking can be booked in advance by calling the sales office, or through the Arena Stage website. Subscribers may purchase parking up to three hours prior to the start of the show for the discounted rate of $18.00. Day of parking is available on a first come first serve basis for $27.00. The garage is open from 6:00am–11:00pm daily.
2. Valet Parking
If you’d prefer to leave the parking to someone else, valet parking is available one hour before show time, and costs just $30 (that’s some of the most economical valet parking in our area!). Simply pull up in front of the Mead Center on 6th street and we’ll take it from there.
3. Accessibility parking
Accessibility is a priority here at Arena Stage. The theater is equipped with many accessibility features to ensure a comfortable experience for all visitors, including special parking arrangements!
- Designated accessible parking spaces are available in our on-site parking garage, providing convenient access for those with disabilities.
- Our valet service is no additional cost to patrons with accessibility needs who have booked their parking in advance by contacting the Sales Office at 202-488-3300.
Please note: reservations for accessible parking close three hours prior to curtain time.
4. Street Parking
If you’d rather explore street parking, you can find metered parking spaces scattered throughout the SW neighborhood. Keep in mind that street parking availability may be limited, especially during peak hours or when events are taking place in the area.
Please be sure to carefully check parking signs for any restrictions or time limits to avoid parking violations. Park Mobile has some great tips on city street parking if you’d like to learn more.
5. Public Parking Garages
SW D.C. boasts several public parking garages in close proximity to Arena Stage. These lots offer a convenient solution for visitors, and have flexible parking durations, but can get expensive.
So, if you’re not parking at the Mead Center, we’d recommend the public parking lot at 1101 4th Street, SW, a roomy garage where ample parking spaces are available for an evening rate of $17. The 4th Street garage is just a short walk past the Duck Pond from Arena Stage, making it an excellent option for theatergoers. In fact, many Arena Stage staff members park there on a daily basis.
However you choose to get to Arena Stage, we hope this comprehensive guide helps you prepare to visit the stunning Mead Center and allows you to focus on what’s most important–creating lasting memories of world-class theater at Arena Stage!
